The COVID-19 pandemic has led to an unprecedented health crisis of the last 100 years whose impact on the economy, society, and each one of us cannot be overstated. We are facing a humanitarian crisis of unknown proportions in which vulnerable persons and families are beginning to have trouble feeding themselves.
In collaboration with El Corte Inglés and the Spanish Food Bank, Linguaserve has launched a monthly initiative to help provide food in Madrid and Barcelona, cities where we have our offices and two of the places most affected by the pandemic.
The current account #TraductoresAyudaAlimentos will be open for donations by employees, and Linguaserve will match the contributions made by its staff.
It will also be open for donations by anyone else who wants to contribute. We encourage you to spread the word on this initiative and others as much as possible to help those who need it most. This way we will be able to collect as much money as we can for a meaningful food donation.
Here's how you can make your donation:
The Spanish Food Bank will issue a donation certificate to anyone who has donated money. You can use this certificate to deduct the corresponding amount from your income tax in 2020. In order for the Spanish Food Bank to issue the document, we need you to provide the following details: Full name, National ID number, address, email, and amount. Send these details to rrhh@linguaserve.com exclusively for the purposes of issuing the corresponding certificate.
Donations can be made at any time. On the 15th of every month, or the first working day after the 15th, the monthly food purchase will be made using the donations collected up to that date. The food will then be delivered over the following days.
While there will be fewer days leading up to May 15 for the first month, the goal is to get the assistance delivered as soon as possible.
Following the collection period, on the 15th of each month, we will contact El Corte Inglés, which, thanks to its close-knit relationship with the Spanish Food Bank, will tell us which products are most needed at that time. Using the monetary donations, we will purchase these products in the El Corte Inglés Supermarket for their subsequent delivery to food banks.
We will give updates each month on the amount collected and the products purchased and donated.
This initiative will remain active for the duration of the humanitarian crisis, or for as long as possible, so that we can alleviate this critical situation for those in need.
Often times many small acts lead to major results. We can do our part and encourage others to do theirs to achieve something bigger than ourselves. Remember, you're our key to success!
It’s up to each and every one of us to make things better. What are you waiting for? Let's work together!
